It is frustrating to constantly feel overloaded with work. Have you ever thought, “I’m sure there’s an easier way of doing this”? Chances are there are, and with the following tips you’ll be able to save time in most of your activities and be happier at work.
1 – Get organized
Getting organized is the first thing you should do in the day so all the other activities don’t get jeopardized. Organisation leads to accomplishment while disruption leads to loss of focus, delay of work getting done and ultimately frustration.
2 – Create templates
In order to work efficiently, you really have to think of ways of saving time and avoiding repetitive work. Creating templates of documents you use most often is one example that could be transferred to other tasks as well.
3 – Know your end goal
Always keep your end goal in mind. Once you understand where you want to go and why, you can better plan the best way of achieving it. If you don’t plan yourself according to the goal you may head to the wrong direction and having to redo the work.
4 – Prioritise your tasks
Separate your daily tasks in “Urgent” and Non-urgent”. To do that, think of your main goals for the day first. What are the three to four top tasks that need to be completed? Write them in order of importance and tick off as you complete them to give you a sense of accomplishment and feedback on your efforts.
5 – Keep focus
Do not try to do many activities at the same time because chances are you will do none in perfection. However, if you focus on one task per day you will be able to finish them quicker and better, therefore being more efficient.
