—Benjamin Franklin

 Disconnect and prepare in advance

Before you go to bed, prepare for the morning. If there is a book you want to read, put it next to your bed; a breakfast you’d like to have, gather the ingredients; a project to work on, formulate the notes and set up the workspace.

If your bedtime is at 10pm, attempt to disconnect from everything by 9pm-TV, PC, Phone – one full hour before lying down.

 Open a window

Having great air during sleep is good for your health so make sure you have a window or two opened at night.

Know Why You Want to Wake Up

To make any change in your life stick, including waking up on time, you need to clearly define why it’s important to you. What’s your motivation? Do you want to get up in time to have breakfast with your family, get in some exercise, or just have a few moments of reflection to be better prepared for your day?

 Write Your Goals Daily

Most people don’t have goals. And those who set some forget about them within weeks. By writing down your goals daily, you’ll never forget them and they’ll be your reason for waking up early.

Keep your alarm clock far away from your bed

If you can touch your alarm clock from the comfort of your bed, you’ll probably just keeping hitting the snooze button. Put your alarm far enough away that you have to get out of bed to turn it off. Once you’re up, stay up.

 Never snooze

Hitting your alarm’s snooze button doesn’t give you more of the restful REM sleep. Your body and mind aren’t recuperating you’re just wasting time.

 Make your morning appetizing

Everyone knows breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But, more than that, it can be a delicious incentive for the early riser. Whatever your tastes, an easy but appetizing breakfast will help lure you out of bed.

 Drink water

Keep a giant glass of water by the bed. As soon as the alarm goes off, BEFORE YOU SHUT IT OFF, drink the entire glass of water. Water is the most awesome wake-up tool for your body ever. Drink the water, it opens up brain cells, rejuvenates your eyes, allows you to come out of sleep.

 Focus

Spend your time wisely. The moment you wake up start working on your passion. Don’t take your eye off the ball. Get away from distractions. Turn off electronic devices such as mobile phones, Internet and TV. Be focused and just work on the one thing that will make you happy.

 Mantra

If you do get trapped into rationalizing, speak out your mantra. Create a mantra for yourself to make sure you wake up early. The mantra should contain a few brilliant keywords to define the reasons why you want to wake up early.

 Avoid afternoon naps

Unless recommended by a doctor, do not take naps in the afternoon as this will mean you will not be sleepy at night and tend to sleep late and wake-up late. Keep yourself engaged in other activities such as a hobby or work to prevent taking your nap.

 Exercise

You won’t miss workouts if you train in the morning: whatever comes up, you’ve already trained. Wait 1hour before lifting weights. This gives your spine time to dehydrate and lowers risks of lower back injury.

Organize to meet someone in the morning for an exercise session

Finding motivation to get out of bed is hard; however meeting someone can provide a necessary boost because someone is relying on you to be ready.

 Consistent hours even on weekends

Stick to the sleep hours and waking up routine even on weekends and holidays. Once the pattern is broken, it’s difficult to get back on track.
