Apple has now announced both the iPhone 5S and 5C officially.
iPhone5C – The affordable version
Specs: Expect something very similar to the iPhone 5 (dual-core CPU, tri-core GPU, 8-megapixel camera) It has a larger battery and better front-camera than the iPhone 5, with a plastic back expected to come in up to six shades, including white, blue, green, red, and yellow.
SIM-free price will be £469 for the 16GB model and £549 for the 32GB model.
iPhone 5s – It’s not cheap
It is more expensive at a SIM-free price of £549 (US$649), £629 (US$749) and £709 (US$849) for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models, with the leather case costing £35.
iPhone 5s will be available in 3 colours: gold, white and black and same shape as the iPhone 5, at 4.87 x 2.31 x 0.3 inches, and it weighs 3.95 ounces.
Apple says the system will empower a new generation of health and fitness apps.
Camera
The camera it’s not been improved, it’s still 8 megapixels, but each pixel is bigger to let in more light. It has a 15% larger sensor area which allows for bigger pixels and better quality images.
There’s a new flash called True Tone, with dual-LED. This is meant to take that whitish, blue tint out of photos taken with flash. One of the LEDs is the normal cool white and the other is a warm amber. The iPhone can combine them in over 1,000 ways to match the room and the skin tone, offering the best possible picture even in low light.
New A7 processor
A processor upgrade was always likely and it’s come in the form of the new A7 chip. It’s a 64-bit chip, making it the first of its kind to ever grace a smartphone.
Finger Print scanner
The iPhone 5s has a fingerprint sensor (TouchID) built into its Home button. It scans your fingerprint and stores it, so you can unlock the phone and authorize iTunes/App Store purchases with a touch. You can also have it authenticate multiple fingerprints, so you can share your phone with specific family members without having to reveal your passcode.
Battery
It can manage up to 250 hours of standby time, 10 hours of talk on 3G, 10 hours of internet, 10 hours of video or 40 hours of audio.
IOS7
Debuts on 18 September with a new look and new features. More battery-efficient multitasking; a much better Photos app; AirDrop to ping photos, videos and contacts to nearby iOS devices; and a smarter Siri that can now access Twitter.
